Does
Amalthea's Attic accept credit cards as well as paypal?
Absolutely. You can pay with either a credit card (e-check, Visa,
Mastercard, Discover, or American Express,) Paypal, check or money order through our site's
secure shopping cart. Amalthea's Attic accepts checks and money orders made out to Irene Freedman and mailed to our snail mail address.
How do
I know the status of my order?
After placing your order, you will receive an email confirmation of your
order and periodic updates on your shipment, if necessary!
How long does my hair need to be to wear falls?
A good rule of thumb is to make sure it's long enough to put into a ponytail
(for a ponyfall) or pigtails
(for a set.). For Fringes, hair in the front should be at least 1/2" long for a good grip.
Heavier hair pieces work better with slightly longer hair. If you're
getting foam or cyberlox, your hair doesn't need to be very long at all. If
your hair is too short, consider getting a full wig. Prices are shown HERE.
How are your hairpieces mounted?
Unless otherwise requested, hairpieces are mounted on extra thick, metal free elastics. Lace mountings are also available upon
request as is sewing elastic.
For a small surcharge, we can mount your elastic base falls on a removable
claw clip as well. We'll work with you to use whatever mounting you
are most comfortable with.
I've
never worn falls before! How do I put dread falls in?
We include instructions with every order we ship! If you lose them, you
can also see them, in PDF format HERE.
I
want to get dread extensions, but how do I put them in? Can I do it
myself?
Yes, you can absolutely do this yourself. You'll likely need a friend to
help you with the back of your head, but it's very simple to do. We
include instructions with these orders too, but, again, if you lose them,
you can always find a copy, in PDF format HERE.
What's the difference between a pair of dreadfalls (dread falls) and a single ponyfall?
Pairs and singles are constructed in the same manner but a single pony
fall usually has 1.25 - 1.5 times the number of dreads as a single hairpiece from a
pair and is meant to be worn as a ponytail, rather than pigtails (one on
each side.). If you order a pair of dreadfalls, they can both be worn
together in a ponytail to create a massive ponyfall, so many clients
prefer to get a pair, because it allows for more style choices. Any
and all materials we offer can be used in both ponyfalls and pairs of
dread falls, but we do not recommend using synthetic hair for very long
pieces due to weight concerns.
Do you take custom orders for items not on your site?
If you have an idea for any kind of hairpiece or accessory, and do not see it on the site, email us and we'll tell you if we can work with your idea. 99% of the time, that answer will be yes!
How
long are the falls?
Length Estimates:
Baby Falls- Approx. 7-12" long.
Regular (medium) Falls- Approx. 13-18" long.
Long Falls- Approximately 19-24" long.
Extra Long Falls- Approx. 25-30" long. Extra Long synthetic falls
can be EXTREMELY heavy, particularly when thick. This length is only
recommended for yarn, roving and cyber lox falls.
I
see a set of falls that I LOVE in the pre-made gallery, but it says
they're sold! Are they really gone and can I still get them anyway?
If the hair says sold, it's gone, however, we can make you a similar set
if you would like. It will NOT be exactly like the ones in the gallery.
These falls are all hand made and no two are exactly alike. Besides, you
don't want to look like everyone else in the club, that's why you're here!
I would like hair/yarn/foam/plastics/tubing/cyberlox in a color that isn't mentioned on your site. Can I get it?
It is very likely that you can. Email us and we'll do our best to order it in, or to blend colors to make it match.
Can you match my hair to make a more "natural" looking fall?
Yes! All we need from you is either a photo of your hair (best if taken in
natural light.) You can also mail us a lock, or let us know what color
hair dye (and what brand) you use. Once we have that, we can probably approximate your hair color for a close match.
The more accurate the source the better the result be. We can't guarantee
an absolutely perfect matchs, but we do our best based on the samples provided. See
our customer gallery for some examples of natural, color matched, dread falls.
I went to a club and now my falls smell terrible! Are they ruined?
For stinky falls, Amalthea's Attic recommends spraying with Febreeze™
and hanging falls outside (if possible) to dry. Otherwise, a bathroom
works just as well.
Ok, my falls really are ruined! My cat
killed them/one of the dreads unwravled/they got caught in a car door/some
jerk yanked them in a club/the elastic died/ help!!!
Never fear! We know you pay good money for your falls, and we want you to
be able to use them for a long long time! If you ever have any problems
with your falls, you can always ship them back to us (along with a note
listing the email account associated with your original payment) and we'll
repair them for you at no charge (you pay for one way shipping)! We can
even replace damaged elastics if you like. Did you buy your falls on
another site and want them repaired? No worries! Drop us an email
describing the damage, and we'll let you know how much we'll charge for
the repair. It's usually a very minimal fee.
How long will it take for me to get my
falls?
Our
general timeline for delivery is 5-7 weeks from the date of your payment.
Sometimes it takes a little longer, sometimes we can get them done more
quickly. Once you have submitted payment, you go into our "production
queue." This means that a space is reserved for you in the production
line and anyone who pays after you has to wait until your falls are ready
before we'll start working on theirs. Wool falls tend to take less time
than synthetics (though custom dying adds to the production time) and the longer the falls you order, or the more dreads per
fall, the longer production will take. We offer every customer the option
of receiving digital photos of their hair as work progresses so that you
can watch them being made. If you'd like to see your falls as we make
them, just let us know and we'll email you photos as we go! Remember, when
you send your payment, you are reserving your spot in line. We will order
your supplies, but the people who paid before you will get their falls
before you do. It's the only fair way to do things. If you have placed a
reserve order, that is, you have reserved a slot for a certain date, your
5-7 weeks will not start until that reserve date. For example, if you
reserve a February slot on January 5th, your 5-7 week waiting time does
not start until February, and no one who orders after you can get a slot
before yours.
Do you guys install double ended dreads or
do dread extensions?
Yes
we do! If you're in the NY area and would be interested in booking an
appointment, or want any other info, just drop
us an email!
I have a rockin' band, cool book, awesome
project, etc. that I need to get the word out about, can you help
me?
Yes! If you're an indie band, author, artist or anyone else who needs some
free promotion for their work, or a way to distribute flyers, buttons,
stickers, etc around the world, we're more than happy to put them in with
our shipments. We ship world wide, year round and we'd love to give you a
bit of free exposure and save you on postage. Email
us if you're interested and we'll send you where to send your promo
materials for review.
Do you wholesale your merchandise?
Some items on the site are available for wholesale, and some are not. Let
us know which items you're interested in carrying and we'll let you know
if they're available through us.
Can you get me in contact with your
suppliers?
No.
I'd like to be in your customer gallery, how can I do that?
Send us an email with your photo attached (or a regular photo via snail
mail (sorry, those cannot be returned) and we'll put you up in our
customer gallery! Do you use our hair dye? Send us a picture and you can
be on our hair dye page! We sometimes like to send a little sumpin' sumpin'
to contributors, so get crackin' with the pictures!
I
love what you sent me, and I want to share it with the world, but photos
aren't enough (or I don't have a camera.)
Yay! We love happy customers. Don't have a
camera, or just want to drop a note? Email
it to us and we'll put you on our testimonials page!
How the heck do you pronounce Amalthea?
Simple, ah mahl thee uh. Rhymes with absolutely nothing.
My question isn't on here. How do I get an answer?
Email us! We'd love to
answer any questions you may have about our falls or any of our other
products.
